Puppies leaving home

Hi

To all the Vizsla fans in Europe.

Thank you for all of your emails and comments.

Our wonderful puppies are now 8 weeks old today and are going to their new homes all over France and Spain.

We have 1 superb male available.

We were thrilled to see that our puppies' grandfather Hungargunn Bear It'N Mind was in the grand final of Cruft's Dog Show this year after winning Best of Breed in the Vizsla section and then winning the Gundog group class (22,000 dogs competed at Cruft's).

Both parents can be viewed at my home.

  1. I left home 2 weeks ago.
Well I am 9 weeks old now and I am 5.5 Kg, and growing every day.
I have two big dogs to terrorise and to bite ears, legs, tails etc, it's great fun, but the Alsatian does tent to sip back if I push it too far.
I have adopted the pointer as my new mummy and I sleep with her every night, and any time in-between, she protects me from the Alsatian if she gets too rough.
My new owners are very good to me they feed me 3 or 4 times a day and clean up all my mess but I am learning, that the garden is the best place to do that, lol.
My upset tummy is all better now and I am back to full health, and running riot round the house chewing everything and any thing in site, it's great fun.
    Poppy.

    Hi Sue and Lucia,
Just wanted to let you know that Lolita has settled in so well! She is wonderful. My terrier Zorro and her have fallen in love and play all day and sleep together at night!
I think she is taking after her mum Meg as she is practicing her Meercat look wherever she can!
I will keep you updated with her progress as she grows.
    Best, Nicole (and Lolita)

  3. To all of our new puppy owners, thank you so much for your wonderful stories and photographs.
I am delighted that all of your puppies have settled into their new homes.
We have three puppies at home now. I am keeping one I have named him Edward Bear of Nearly Heaven, I intend to show him and this time I intend to train him for field trials ( when I find the time!).
The three puppies are now living in the house with the older dogs and they have adapted to their large sleeping cage without a murmer nor an accident in the house .... yet!
Of course they still go outside into their puppy pen during the day.
I enjoy a daily walk with all of the dogs and puppies, at present because of the size of the little ones,we just walk over the horse fields, it is a heartwarming sight to watch all of the Vizsla's playing together.

  7. Just been reading the blog and would like to say a hello to the owners of Poppy the Vizsla. The world is full of coincidences as we too have one of Sue's Vizslas and yes we too called her Poppy. You can see a photo of her on this site but she is using her "posh" name of Dipsy doo dah ;-) Poppy is now about 16 months old and is an absolute delight. Her new hobby is "protecting" the cats 3 newborn kittens, she appears to have very strong maternal instincts!

  9. Enah is well and has adjusted to our crazy lifestyle really well. She has already been to motocross and we have just come back from the 24 Heures du Mans where she ruled the roost!
She has incredible energy for 10 mins, then the batteries turn off and she's in sleep mode for the next 40 mins then back to crazy-chase-her-tail mode again. She have sharp teeth and loves to nibble the kids and me but is never vicious and is always happy.

  11. Darcey's Info.
Apologies to all for leaving the first message for so long. However.... Darcey is doing fantastic. She had a little problem with the runs (not the energetic type) when she first arrived home but the nice Vet Man sorted her out. She is not a great eater and we worry she is a little thin, however she seems more than happy and loves to chew just about everything (the smellier the better - Socks!!). She was 9.7Kg today - hope that compares well with your puppies. We go for 2 (shortish)walks a day and she loves it. She has been fantastic with the toilet training and now asks (demands) to go out for a poo and Wee - even scratches at the front door. She is also doing very well with her training. We try to do 2 fun sessions of 5 mins per day and she can sit, lay, roll and give paw. She really loves to learn and please - I think the treat helps too!. Not sure how long it will take for her to answer the phone, but i am sure it is possible. The settee has become her home and she loves to squeeze in between my husband and i. Easy when she was small, is more challenging as she grows, and should be fun when she is really big. Night times are easy and when its bed time she sleeps all night (11:00 till 07:00). Up for a wee then the mad ten minutes as you all seem to experience. I didn't think hurricanes occured in France. We have one every morning - several times a day in fact. They soon pass and after picking up the debris she sleeps and sleeps and sleeps some more. We have all fallen in love withour new companion and look forward to sharing the next episode with you all. Have fun.
    The Ellis's.

    Dear All,
Just an update on Lolita...... She is just the best! High energy, which is great for us and our lifestyle and our other dog Zorro, a terrier. They are both in love, which is great to see. They play all day together and snuggle at night. In fact cuddling and having her tummy rubbed are her favourite things! I have never known a dog that has so much love to give, I love it!
She is also brilliant in the water and I cannot wait for her to get bigger and stronger so that she can go swimming properly. She is growing so fast so I am sure it won't be long. Will update soon, Nicole

  17. We are the proud owners of Kobi, not Gobi, as one of my friends insists on calling him! He is like all of the other puppies, absolutely adorable but also absolutely mischievous!
We have giggled to read of all the other puppies antics and of course, like parents compare the accomplishments and slight problematical areas of owning a Vizsla! I must say that on reading about all the others, there are certainly strong Vizsla traits:- sleeping or trying to sleep on sofas being one of them!
Kobi is supposedly not allowed on sofas and we are being extremely 'cruel' and trying to make him go on his own old sofa cushion which is placed on the floor just in front of us. His cushion has the added 'smell' factor as it is festooned with his jumpers and blankets that have been dragged around inside and outside the house he also has his chews, and his favourite of all, a fly swat, ready for action!
This system works as long as we are sitting on our sofas but if we leave the room even for a second we come back to find Kobi, beautifully curled up on one of our sofas. When he hears us coming he uses the ostrich technique of burying his head in the cushions, beleiving that if he can't see us, then of course we can't see him, or the other technique of looking up at us so the whites of his eyes are showing, a real Oscar winning performance!
Kobi, like the other pups is very exuberant and when we return even after an absence of a few minutes or if we have visitors he is desperate to jump up and show his excitement. This seems to be rather a difficult thing to contain and although he will sit beautifully when asked, to sit under these circumstances does not seem to be in the Vizsla remit. We hope that eventually he will get the message.
As I write this, Kobi is doing is extremely important job of sitting outside on 'lizard duty'. He will sit for ages waiting for one to venture out of the pile of rubble we have got by the house ready for the new patio . We actually like the lizards but at the moment, we have no fear of him catching one as, although he does his best pointing pose and looks very impressive, he actually then blows it by rushing at any noise like a bull in a china shop, thereby giving any lizard more than enough time to stroll off!

    News from Elie -
Elie (now called Elek) is very happy; he's living about an hour south of Nearly Heaven in a little hamlet called Cramier. He lives in the keeper's house and has a BIG park to take care of. He has adopted our older Vizla as his 'Aunt Nadia' and follows her around though he's very very good about going home when told to. He loves being with people and playing with the other dogs. He still climbs into any lap he can find and is very cuddly. He's charming and sweet and not doing too many 'betise' yet (though keeps chewing on the keeper's garden shoes and boots). We'll send photos the next chance we get...but believe me, HE'S GROWING. His paws are enormous! regards from Cramier, Elek and Elizabeth

  20. Hello from the Ellis's and from Darcey.
We enjoy so much reading how all the puppies are
getting on and laugh at all the antics.
Darcey is doing fantastic, she has us in fits of laughter each day with all her puppy energy.
One of our favourite times is when we are out walking and she decides to go chasing butterflies
and all we can see is her head springing up through the corn, when suddenly Darcey realises that she might be more than a few feet from us and in a mad dash tumbles out of the corn with both ears insideout. Darcey is also in training for the 2012 olympics (discipline) sofa jump. We have three in our lounge and upon entering the room she has the run up off to a tee and proceeds
to jump from one to the other without touching the ground and dismounts perfectly while anyone in the room has no chance of stopping her.
This is one of the many things we are working on along with the jumping up and biting clothes.
She has become truly part of the family and we enjoy the wonderful affection and love we get back from her. Soon we will be going to dog training and will let you know how this goes.
Loved seeing the pictures of the dogs in the water, we have not as yet managed to get Darcey into the water, she has thought about it a few times but changed her mind, we hope it wont be
too long as she loves the bath. Darcey is so beautiful and all we expected and more, but we look forward to slightly calmer days.
    regards the Ellis's
